Failsworth School is recognised as a centre of sporting excellence in the local area and was designated a Specialist Sports College from September 2000. Over the years the School has developed a growing reputation for independant learning and achievement in all aspects of its work.
The further achievement of Sports College status has consolidated these aspects, extended the current levels of success and given the school a highly reputable national profile as a Specialist Sports College.
Culturally sport has always been important to this area of Greater Manchester and this is especially true in Failsworth. The school is only two miles from 'Sports City' and the Commonwealth Games Stadium. As a Sports College we work in partnership with the DfES, Youth Sport Trust, Sport England, the LTA, Manchester City Football Club, the LEA and the English Institute for Sport to drive forward our Sports College vision, and are recognised nationally as a forward thinking, innovative Sports College at the cutting edge of good practice.
