Languages and Communications

Failsworth School offers an enriching and engaging Language Learning experience. French and Spanish are taught at both at KS3 and KS4 and the talented staff enjoy delivering lessons which are both interactive and challenging. Each classroom within the Department is equipped with the most up to date technology in order to support the learning of languages. We maintain close contact with parents informing them of the successes and achievements of the pupils.

In addition our students benefit from a range of language learning websites, Revision Classes, cultural events, including French and Spanish cooking classes, sporting events and a foreign language film club. For updates on revision and learning resources please refer to the Languages blog.

The students are also supported by native Foreign Language Assistants who work with the students’ pronunciation and fluency in their target language. The languages Department has organised multiple cultural visits to France and Spain in recent years. This academic year the cultural trip will be a visit to the French capital, Paris.

Head of Languages, Mrs Holroyd comments, “I am really pleased that we have maintained a high uptake of language learners at KS4 as Languages clearly have a vital role to play in an ever more global world”. The Department continues to drive forward the school’s high standards and excellent results and the Department believes that our new school will be the catalyst to raising achievement even further.
